The Exchange 1856 in North Shields was the setting for a beautiful wedding today as Katie and Robert said "I do" in a celebration marked by a delightful surprise and a unique blend of classic and modern transport.
In a heartwarming gesture, the father of the bride had secretly booked a vintage 1976 VW Campervan as a surprise for Katie. The day began with the bridal party being collected from The Tynemouth Castle Inn and chauffeured to the venue in the charming van, which then returned to bring a radiant Katie and her father to the ceremony.
The weather, which had looked set for rain, thankfully cleared up, providing perfect conditions for the day's events. Following the ceremony, the happy couple stepped out to find not only the classic campervan but also the groom’s own impressive BMW M4.
Taking full advantage of the two distinct vehicles, the newlyweds and their parties headed to the historic Maritime Chambers for a unique photo shoot with both the vintage VW and the sleek modern BMW. The fun continued with the campervan making a second trip to the bustling Fish Quay, where more cherished photos were taken against the scenic coastal backdrop.
The VW Campervan, in particular, was a huge hit, drawing smiles and admiration from guests and passers-by alike. Its retro charm added a touch of fun and nostalgia, making it a star attraction of the day.
We send our warmest congratulations to Katie and Robert, and wish them a lifetime of happiness together.
